Not your little sister's Bella
Jun. 21st, 2022 12:33 pmIn this version of the Twilight saga, Renee left both Charlie and Bella in Forks. As a result, Charlie was a far more hands-on parent since he had to act as both father and mother to Bella. Bella also spent a lot of time in LaPush, growing up with the Black children and the Clearwater children. She grew up having tight bonds of friendship with Rachel and Rebecca Black along with Leah and Seth Clearwater.
As a result of these friendships, Bella learned to be a bit more independent as she had to, otherwise the more assertive and outgoing Black and Clearwater children would have overshadowed Bella entirely.
She's also extremely close to her dad, an absolute daddy's girl and one who buys her dad multiple variations of "#1 Dad" and "World's Best Dad," mugs and so on. Renee didn't try and make contact with Bella again until Bella was five but that bond could never be fully healed because she saw first-hand how badly Renee's absence hurt her dad.
Almost from when he was born, Bella and Jacob had an indestructible bond. He made her feel braver, more sure of herself given that no matter how she proceeded, she had Jacob's support. That changed, though, in Bella's Freshman year of high school when the Cullens moved to town.
As in canon, Edward couldn't read Bella's mind and her blood smelled especially delicious to him. Bella, on the other hand, had her views of what is and isn't attractive heavily influenced by her time with the Quileute children and considered Edward far too pale and far too quiet to be attractive. However, from close observation of Edward's behavior, she was able to figure out that Edward was a vampire and so were his family members.
Edward still chose to follow Bella around and worry about her safety, leading to a rift between herself and Jacob until Jacob became a werewolf and relied on Bella's support and reassurances that he wasn't a monster.
At that time, Bella developed more than friendly feelings and an attraction to Jacob, though choosing to not say anything due to the age difference.
Most of the rest of Twilight canon stayed largely the same, although Jacob was in the role of the one Bella was in love with and Edward was the friend who was often pushing his boundaries.
